Softball Game Preview: South Fork Bulldogs vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders

The South Fork Bulldogs will take on the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Fork will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

South Fork is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Sebastian River get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give the Bulldogs' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Jaguars.

Lavinia Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Thomas Aquinas let Sara Wrzosek and Victoria Brunette run wild. Wrzosek went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Brunette went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Brunette has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Sims, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Thomas Aquinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

South Fork pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.
