Basketball Recap: Manhattan Takes a Loss

Manhattan was the 47-36 winner over Emporia when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Manhattan Indians fell just short of the Emporia Spartans by a score of 37-35 on Friday. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Emporia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylan Crowell, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nolan Jacob was another key player, putting up seven points and nine boards.

Manhattan's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Emporia, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manhattan will head out to take on Washburn Rural at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washburn Rural is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Emporia, they will venture away from home to face off against Junction City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Junction City has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Emporia will come in with five straight wins.
