 If Ida Baker was riding high  off their  16-1 takedown of Cypress Lake last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ida Baker Bulldogs'  rough  15-9 loss to the Mariner Tritons  on Thursday might stick with them for a while. Ida Baker was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mariner apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in March of 2023.
  Makayla Nieves made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, a  triple,  and a  double.  Alyssa Auger was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 On Mariner's side,  Gabi Winters spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned  (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. Winters has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Mariner got a  massive  performance out of  Mia Standard, who  went 2-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mica Barraza, who  scored three  runs while going 3-for-4.
 Ida Baker now  has a losing record at 5-6. As for Mariner, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
 While Ida Baker had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
