Basketball Recap: Edna Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Edna can now relate to. They took a blow against the Crystal City Javelinas on Friday, falling 73-42. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Javelinas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Crystal City found their leader in freshman McKenzie Flores, who went 8-for-19 on her way to 26 points. The matchup was Flores' third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyson Mata, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Edna moved to 27-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Crystal City, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-5.

As of now, neither Edna nor the Javelinas have any future games scheduled.
