Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Mustangs vs. Americas Trail Blazers

The Coronado Mustangs will head out to challenge the Americas Trail Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Coronado sitting on three straight wins and Americas on 11.

Coronado is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Cooper 2-1.

Coronado got a great performance from Matt Garcia as he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Garcia has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Americas got themselves on the board against Chapin on Friday, but Chapin never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Trail Blazers have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Coronado pushed their record up to 22-10 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Americas, their record now sits at 19-6.

Coronado might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Americas when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
