Baseball Recap: Monmouth United Triumphs

Bureau Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Monmouth United proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Storm 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Storm.

Ian Leffler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elliott Copeland and Nolan Jenks did most of the damage at the plate: Copeland went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Jenks went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Monmouth United's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Bureau Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.

Monmouth United will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Storm: the pair will be back at it again later today.
