Volleyball Recap: Alyssa Hawkins Key Part of Team Effort in Raiders Win + How To Watch

Burney needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Alexis Witzel. Everything went the Raiders' way against the Dunsmuir Tigers on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory for which the team can thank Witzel, who had 23 digs, five kills, and five aces. She has been hot, having posted 18 or more digs the last six times she's played.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 25-18.

Burney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Hawkins, who had nine digs, seven aces, and five kills. Aimee Hampton was another key player, getting seven digs, six kills, and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Burney was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Burney's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Dunsmuir, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burney will face off against Weed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Cougars have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Dunsmuir, they will challenge Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
