League recap: Nekoosa extends winning streak with victory over Columbus

South Central recap November 5, 2013

Nekoosa added to the longest winning streak in South Central this week by beating Columbus, 31-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Papermakers.

Westfield Area fell to St. Catherine's 49-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alex Slowey threw for 85 yards and ran for 55 yards in the loss.

Westfield Area's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Slowey has thrown for 997 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Tyler Janke has 21 catches for 517 yards. Slowey also leads the league in rushing with 1,212 yards.

Tanner Akers has rushed for 918 yards on 105 carries so far this year.

Nekoosa led the league in scoring this week after putting up 31 points on the Cardinals.
