Basketball Recap: Corvian Community Takes a Loss

Corvian Community played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Community School of Davidson Spartans, falling 65-19. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Corvian Community lost, don't look at Victoria Sandiford. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. Dashonna Hoey also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Community School of Davidson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Regan Downey, who earned 24 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Downey has scored at least a third of Community School of Davidson's points. Olivia Stewart was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Community School of Davidson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corvian Community will face off against Christ the King at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ the King will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Corvian Community surely won't give up without a fight. As for Community School of Davidson, they will square off against Bradford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Davidson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
