Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Maranatha

Maranatha never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars by a score of 3-0. Winning may never get old, but the Minutemen sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Dylan Hoang tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Maranatha is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lukus Perez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Suslow, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win got Maranatha back to even at 6-6-1. As for Rancho Cucamonga, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maranatha will host Heritage Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Minutemen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
