Volleyball Recap: Hawkins Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hawkins waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Pewitt Brahmas. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-0 win two weeks ago.

Hawkins never let Pewitt on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-18, 26-24.

Pewitt lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Darriyah Thomas, who had 13 digs and nine kills. She has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times she's played. Gloria Pureco was another key player, getting 14 digs, two aces, and one block.

Hawkins' victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Pewitt, they dropped their record down to 17-17 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Hawkins will welcome Big Sandy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pewitt, they will challenge Harts Bluff at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
