Softball Recap: Smithtown West vs. Comsewogue Warriors        
        
		
            Smithtown West dropped their record down to 6-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Comsewogue Warriors by a score of  4-3. Smithtown West was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Comsewogue earlier this season, when they won  5-0.

 Erin McDaid was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  six innings while giving up  four earned runs off   three  hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  RBI and one  double. Those  RBI were  her first of the season.
 McDaid wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Gabrielle Krayewski, who  went 1-for-2 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double. Another  was  Jiselle Singh, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  run.
As for Comsewogue, their win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 3-1. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Comsewogue's side,  Maggie Burrell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Adrianna Napolitano was  incredible,  going 1-for-2 with one  home run and four  RBI.
 Coming up, Smithtown West will welcome West Islip  at 5:15  p.m.  on Friday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed four  runs per game  this season, so Smithtown West's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Comsewogue, they are taking a road trip to  challenge Bellport  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
