Softball Game Preview: Enumclaw Hornets vs. Kent-Meridian Royals

The Enumclaw Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Kent-Meridian Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Enumclaw has 12 straight victories, Kent-Meridian has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Enumclaw got the win against Decatur by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Hornets have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyssa Harris tossed a big game, striking out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Lim was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Aubrey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Enumclaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .481 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kent-Meridian lost 22-3 to Beamer on Friday.

Enumclaw's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kent-Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Enumclaw took their win against Kent-Meridian in their previous matchup on April 2nd by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
