Football Game Preview: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Yarmouth Clippers

The Mount Desert Island Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Yarmouth Clippers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mount Desert Island is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Camden Hills, who was ranked sixth at the time (Mount Desert Island was ranked 11th). The Trojans might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 34-22 to the Windjammers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Yarmouth entered their tilt with Waterville on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Panthers, posting a 70-26 victory. Considering the Clippers have won four games by more than 25 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Yarmouth's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Mount Desert Island, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Mount Desert Island came up short against Yarmouth in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, falling 50-46. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
