After flying high against Butte Valley on Saturday, Hayfork came back down to earth. The Timberjacks took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Shasta Bears on Monday. The Timberjacks' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Hayfork lost, don't look at Riley Bayley. Despite the final result, she posted six points in addition to 11 rebounds and three steals. Bayley has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Nanez, who put up eight points and four steals.

Hayfork's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Mt. Shasta, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Hayfork and Mt. Shasta will both be playing Butte Valley the next time they take the court. The Timberjacks will host the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bears will host them at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
