Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Elysian Fields Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Carlisle will face off against Elysian Fields. The Indians will head out on the road to take on the Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Carlisle has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while Elysian Fields will arrive with three straight victories.

Carlisle fell victim to Elysian Fields and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 21-0. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly 21 runs.

For Elysian Fields' part, Harper Day was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Day has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Libby Simms and Madi Giddens did most of the damage at the plate: Simms went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Giddens got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave Simms a new career-high. Kirsten Commander was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Elysian Fields hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-1-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Elysian Fields, the win got them back to even at 15-15-1.
