Baseball Recap: Clarksville Drops Season-High Score on Henryville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clarksville). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Henryville Hornets 14-13. This was a revenge game for the Generals: when they faced off against the Hornets on Saturday, they had to take a 9-6 defeat.

David Via looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jayden Arnold also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Clarksville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

Clarksville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Henryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Clarksville will head out to take on Corydon Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Henryville, they will host Trinity Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
