It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dixon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the North Boone Vikings 9-8. That's two games straight that the Dukes And Duchesses have won by just one run.

Jake Zepezauer was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gage Helfrich, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Dixon and bumps their season record up to 14-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for North Boone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-12.

Dixon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
