Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mt. Zion

Mt. Zion extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. Everything went their way against the Argenta-Oreana Bombers as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Braves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ella Fink made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Addy Rotz was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Ellie Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Mt. Zion lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

As for Argenta-Oreana, they moved to 12-11 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 3.65 runs allowed.

On Argenta-Oreana's side, Kharma Giles made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Coming up, Mt. Zion will challenge Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Argenta-Oreana, they will host Villa Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bombers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
