Softball Recap: Padua Franciscan Takes a Loss

Padua Franciscan extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They lost 12-3 to the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-7 on Saturday.

As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

For Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's part, the team relied heavily on Lexi Simon, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave Simon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Wurm, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Padua Franciscan is set to take on their familiar foe Lake Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will square off against rival Holy Name at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Lions have won five straight at home, while the Green Wave won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
