Softball Recap: Central Magnet vs. Marshall County Tigers

Central Magnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 16-5 defeat at the hands of the Marshall County Tigers. That's two games in a row now that Central Magnet has lost by exactly 11 runs.

Gracee Carmichael was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Juliet Dasch, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Central Magnet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall County only posted a batting average of .241.

On Marshall County's side, Courtney Lynch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (she also only allowed one walk). Lynch was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base.

In other batting news, Marshall County let Jachelle Ridley and Kinley Wiser loose on the outfield. Ridley scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Wiser went 1-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Demiyah Blackman, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Central Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Marshall County, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Central Magnet will head out on the road to face off against Lawrence County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marshall County, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tullahoma at 5:30 p.m. Tullahoma is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 12.6 runs per game this season.
