Basketball Recap: Deahri Hayes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Clemente

It was a proper cat-fight when Austin College and Career Academy duked it out withClemente on Wednesday. The Austin College and Career Academy Tigers walked away with a 39-26 victory over the Clemente Wildcats. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 46-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Austin College and Career Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DeAhri Hayes led the charge by putting up 17 points. Hayes' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teasiah Smith, who posted 11 points.

Austin College and Career Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Clemente, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

After both having extra time off, Austin College and Career Academy and Wells will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Clemente, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Uplift at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
