Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

The Bonita Vista Barons will venture away from home to face off against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Bernardo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bonita Vista, who comes in off a win.

Bonita Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Poway by a score of 8-4.

DEMARCO ROJAS tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on KENSEN JOHNSON, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was ADRIAN FIGUEROA, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Rancho Bernardo's good fortune finally ran out last Monday. They fell just short of Carlsbad by a score of 4-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Broncos' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Christopher Bayne was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rancho Bernardo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Reed, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Rancho Bernardo's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Bonita Vista, their record is now 11-18.

Bonita Vista couldn't quite finish off Rancho Bernardo when the teams last played back in February of 2019 and fell 5-3. Can the Barons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
