Basketball Recap: Summers County Takes a Loss

Summers County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. Their2024 ended with a 72-53 loss against the Wayne Pioneers.

It was another big night for Isaac Meddings, who went 9 of 14 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and seven assists for Wayne. The match was Meddings' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Marcum, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six assists.

Summers County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wayne, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Summers County will take on Summit Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-55 victory against Ritchie County on the 28th.
