Basketball Game Preview: Walsenburg Panthers vs. Crowley County Chargers

Walsenburg hasn't had much luck against Crowley County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Walsenburg Panthers will head out to face off against the Crowley County Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Walsenburg is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Del Norte on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Walsenburg had to suffer through a 44-4 loss at the hands of Del Norte. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Tigers are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, Crowley County came up short against Las Animas on Friday and fell 30-20. The match marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Walsenburg will have to contain Alexis Rusher as she made an impact in Crowley County's last game. She posted 11 points and three steals.

Walsenburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Crowley County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Walsenburg suffered a grim 42-16 defeat to Crowley County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Walsenburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
