Football Recap: Lamar Pulls Away from Weld Central

Weld Central had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to the Lamar Thunder on the road by a 28-12 margin.

Lamar had a senior duo take command as Alex Aguilar rushed for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 10 carries and Jacob Dunning threw for 148 yards and 1 TD. Those 74 yards set a new season-high mark for Aguilar.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lamar, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weld Central will venture away from home to challenge Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar, they will head out to take on Raton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
