Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield Warriors vs. New Trier Trevians

The Deerfield Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the New Trier Trevians at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Deerfield came up short against Stevenson and fell 5-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, New Trier never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Maine West with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trevians, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Justin Rausch looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Mason Bloom was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ben Toft, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

New Trier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maine West only posted a batting average of .143.

New Trier is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Deerfield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.

Deerfield might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from New Trier when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
