Basketball Game Preview: Dorchester Academy Raiders vs. Cathedral Academy Generals

Dorchester Academy hasn't had much luck against Cathedral Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dorchester Academy Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Cathedral Academy Generals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Dorchester Academy sitting on three straight wins and Cathedral Academy on five.

Dorchester Academy saw some tournament action last Saturday. They walked away with a 61-50 victory over Branchville.

Meanwhile, Cathedral Academy didn't have too much trouble with Faith Christian on Monday as they won 58-42. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Knights are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dorchester Academy pushed their record up to 4-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Cathedral Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Dorchester Academy was taken down by Cathedral Academy 74-40 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Dorchester Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
