Basketball Recap: Newton Falls Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Newton Falls won the last time they faced Liberty and things went their way on Friday too. The Newton Falls Tigers took down the Liberty Leopards 53-38.

Newton Falls found their leader in sophomore Phil Davis, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Davis. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Huff, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Liberty lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ameer Haynes, who earned eight points. Another player making a difference was Adam Huynh, who scored nine points.

Newton Falls has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Newton Falls will square off against Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Landon McGregor and Evan Neff. As for Liberty, they will head out to face off against Garfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.
