Basketball Recap: Moberly Falls Despite Big Games from Kish Jacobs and Cameron Doubrava

Moberly fought the good fight in their overtime match against Kirksville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 61-52 to the Kirksville Tigers. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Cameron Doubrava and Kish Jacobs certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Doubrava went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points, while Jacobs posted 13 points and six assists. Doubrava is becoming a predictor of Moberly's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 3-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Amar'E Hawkins, who earned four points and seven rebounds.

Moberly's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Kirksville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

Coming up, Moberly will square off against Westran at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Westran will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Moberly surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kirksville, they will face off against Fulton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kirksville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
