Baseball Recap: Shiprock Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tularosa last Saturday, Shiprock came back down to earth. Shiprock came up short against the Hozho Academy Wolves on Monday, falling 18-9.

Khalil Nakai was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Shiprock: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Antonio James also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Shiprock's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5. As for Hozho Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Shiprock wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-1 victory against Zuni on the 25th. As for Hozho Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-9 win against Navajo Prep on the 25th.
