Basketball Recap: Altamonte Christian Skates Past Merritt Island Christian with Ease

Altamonte Christian extended their postseason success on Thursday against Merritt Island Christian. They blew past the Merritt Island Christian Cougars, posting a 72-32 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 26 points or more this season.

Altamonte Christian found their leader in freshman Kayleigh Cooper, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double with 32 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cooper has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Hill, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Altamonte Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. Merritt Island Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Altamonte Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-44 defeat against Mount Dora Christian Academy on the 18th. Merritt Island Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
