Softball Recap: Henrico Comes Up Short

Henrico had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it ten. They lost 15-0 to the Atlee Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in March.

As for Atlee, the victory got them back to even at 4-4. Considering they have won three contests by more than 13 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Atlee's part, Shannon McKeever was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, McKeever posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Sponaugle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henrico will take on Hopewell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Atlee, they will challenge Mechanicsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
