Basketball Recap: Shalhevet Takes a Loss

Shalhevet saw some tournament action on Monday. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King's Academy Knights. While losing is never fun, the Firehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Knights are ranked 125th).

It was another big night for Xavier Barnett, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 27 points along with six boards and five steals for King's Academy. Those 27 points gave Barnett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Sherman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Shalhevet has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for King's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Shalhevet didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-33 loss against Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) on the 2nd. As for King's Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-45 victory against Half Moon Bay on the 8th.
