Softball Game Preview: Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers vs. Cocoa Beach Minutemen

The Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers will face off against the Cocoa Beach Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy turned things around against Calvary Chapel Academy on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 8-1. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

Bebe Stockton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleigh Schmoll, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathalie Ponton, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Cocoa Beach lost 13-4 to Satellite on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Minutemen in their meetings with the Scorpions: they've now lost seven in a row.

Cocoa Beach saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Deese, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Cocoa Beach's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-12.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy couldn't quite get it done against Cocoa Beach when the teams last played back in April of 2019 as they fell 11-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
