Basketball Game Preview: Marianna Bulldogs vs. Holmes County Blue Devils

Marianna hasn't had much luck against Holmes County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Marianna Bulldogs will host the Holmes County Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, Marianna was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Chipley. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Tigers are ranked 135th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Harmoni Gibson, who posted 19 points and six boards. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dessiah Gee, who put up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Holmes County hadn't done well against Graceville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Holmes County walked away with a 43-36 win over Graceville. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

Holmes County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Marianna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
