Football Recap: Torres Toros vs. Sunnyside Wildcats
Torres extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They took a 36-20 bruising from the Sunnyside Wildcats. The Toros lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-0 score last time.
Nathaniel Pichardo threw for 70 yards. Jordan Garcia was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards.
As for Sunnyside, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games.
Bob Davis had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Diaz, who threw for 106 yards and one TD.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Torres will challenge rival Madera South at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sunnyside is set to face off against their familiar foe Sanger West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
