Baseball Recap: Mission Vista Comes Up Short

Mission Vista extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Westview Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Westview this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-0 loss on Thursday.

Mission Vista saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Westview, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Westview's side, Tyler Bissessar looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bissessar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jacob Kuy was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Arango-Manley, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mission Vista is set to square off against their familiar foe Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Westview will take on rival Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolverines 3.2, the Panthers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
