Basketball Recap: Menendez Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Menendez ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They secured a 51-47 W over the ED White Commanders. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Menendez to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Scibelli, who posted 23 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Scibelli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Nykia Deans was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

ED White lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kyra Jackson, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leandrea Mccloud, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

The victory was the third in a row for Menendez, bringing their record for this year to 12-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points per game. As for ED White, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Menendez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-27 win against Matanzas on the 21st. As for ED White, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-47 victory against Raines on the 23rd.
