There's no place like home for Cathedral City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Banning Broncos on Thursday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Lions have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sayuri Toledo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Amya Guzman and Maybeli Sauceda did most of the damage at the plate: Guzman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Sauceda got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Sauceda a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Melanie Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Cathedral City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banning only posted an OBP of .167.

Cathedral City's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Banning, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
