Basketball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

If Mountain View was feeling good fresh off their 53-31 takedown of Orem last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain View Bruins took a hard 57-40 fall against the Payson Lions on Tuesday. The Bruins have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mountain View still got an impressive performance from Kimberlee Brown, who went 8-for-14 en route to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, Brown now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Carlson, who posted two points along with five boards and four steals.

Payson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmy Hales, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Avery Roundy was another key player, going 8-for-16 to rack up 19 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Payson, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-39 victory against Provo on the 7th. As for Payson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-29 win against Uintah on the 7th.
