Basketball Recap: Hunters Lane Falls Despite Big Games from Isaiah Mcgill and Gabriel Deng

Hunters Lane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the McGavock Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 53-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Hunters Lane's loss came despite strong showings from Gabriel Deng and Isaiah Mcgill. Deng went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and five boards, while Mcgill posted nine points and eight rebounds. Azavion Moore also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Hunters Lane smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Hunters Lane's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for McGavock, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunters Lane will square off against Antioch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McGavock, they will face off against Overton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McGavock is facing Overton at the right time seeing as Overton is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
