Baseball Recap: Belleville East Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Belleville East proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Alton Redbirds. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since April 8th.

Logan Faust looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Belleville East's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Monroe, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Belleville East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs. As for Alton, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Belleville East will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Redbirds: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
