The Berne Union Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grove City Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Berne Union comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Berne Union's 25-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 35-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfield Christian Academy on Friday.
Even though Grove City Christian has not done well against Bishop Rosecrans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Grove City Christian secured a 41-36 W over Bishop Rosecrans. The victory was just what Grove City Christian needed coming off of a 63-29 loss in their prior match.
Grove City Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Smith, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Ava Garringer, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals.
Berne Union's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Grove City Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Berne Union against Grove City Christian in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 53-13 win. Will Berne Union repeat their success, or does Grove City Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
