Softball Game Preview: Richland County Tigers vs. Carmi-White County Bulldogs

The Richland County Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Carmi-White County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Richland County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Richland County let Hutsonville/Palestine stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Tuesday but luckily Richland County prevailed anyway. Richland County won by a run and slipped past Hutsonville/Palestine 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaylen Gwyn was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Clara Williams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Carmi-White County made easy work of Goreville on Saturday and carried off an 11-5 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Blackcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Carmi-White County back to even at 11-11. As for Richland County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Richland County suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Carmi-White County when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
