Football Recap: Tucker County Starts off Right with Win over Pocahontas County

Tucker County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They really took it to the Pocahontas County Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-7 win. Given the Mountain Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Warriors are ranked 95th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tucker County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucas Barb, who threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. Barb also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss). Tucker County's leading receiver Reid Kisamore was Barb's top target yet again, picking up 177 receiving yards and three TDs.

Tucker County and Pocahontas County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Mountain Lions are set to square off against their familiar foe Tygarts Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pocahontas County will face off against rival Meadow Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
