Basketball Recap: Oakwood Comes Up Short

Oakwood saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls. While losing is never fun, Oakwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 348th in California, while Mid-Pacific Institute is ranked tenth in Hawaii).

This is the second loss in a row for Oakwood and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood will face off against Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, they will challenge Maryknoll at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
