Basketball Game Preview: Carroll Cougars vs. Tri-County Cavaliers

The Carroll Cougars will head out to square off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Carroll is leaving town to face Tri-County after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Cougars fell 46-39 to Lewis Cass on Tuesday. The contest was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Tri-County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 62-45 win over Rensselaer Central on Friday. The game was the first time the Cavaliers have beaten the Bombers on their court since November 24, 2017.

Tri-County's win came from a few key players Carroll will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gabe Miller, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 14 points and three steals. Clayton Atkinson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Everything came up roses for Carroll against Tri-County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
