Softball Recap: Delavan Panthers vs. Orion Chargers
Delavan lost against Orion back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Lainey Klokkenga was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Addi Fisher was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Delavan's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Orion, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season.
Delavan will head out on the road to challenge Illini Bluffs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Orion, they have already played their next game, a 23-0 win against Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon on the 12th.
