After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marksville, Vidalia was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Delta Charter Storm 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Kinsley LeBlanc made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. LeBlanc was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Piper Weatherly was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Kinley Potts was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Vidalia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Vidalia's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Delta Charter, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Coming up, Vidalia will venture away from home to take on Caldwell Parish at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vidalia has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Delta Charter, they will host Block at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
